Psycho-Cybernetics

A very remarkable method of empowering your mind is called Psycho-Cybernetics.

OK, I’m not trying to immerse you into the bottomless depth of the human mind, so just bear with me a few minutes as I show you an absolutely fascinating way to achieve your goals, and of course fat loss, by using the power of your mind.

What we see may be seen differently by someone else. So there may be really at least two different worlds out there, one that is the real one, and the one that you see. How you see what’s out there depends on your prior experiences, your attitudes and your present state of mind.

Take for example that you see your 6 year old son sitting on your concrete driveway next to his skateboard with scrapes on knees and arms, rubbing his shin. His mother also sees him from the house and comes out horrified that he could be seriously hurt.

Neither of you have prior knowledge of exactly what happened. You, the Dad, tries to calm the mother, saying it just looks like a scrape and a bruise. Two people with no prior knowledge see the same thing, but interpret it differently. What is the real thing? Is it Mom’s impression or is it Dad’s, or perhaps even a third impression might be the real one?

What if you realize that there might be some things that you saw, that actually turned out to be different than what you remember seeing? What if both yours and another person’s recall are different, but both are correct? Can that really happen? Yes. Take an 8oz glass and pour 4oz of apple juice into it. You look at it and see a glass half empty and lament the fact that there is only half a glass of your favorite juice. Another person looks at it and sees a glass half full and rejoices at the fact that there are 4oz of his favorite juice. Both look at the glass, but each sees a different thing, and both are correct! See how your prejudice and/or attitudes can make for different interpretations of the same thing?

How many times have you not heard from successful people that they pin up a picture of their goal, a new house, car, boat or vacation, on their bathroom mirror in an effort to stay focused on that goal and to do everything possible to reach it? The image of that goal is thereby seen by them many times a day, and that image is refreshed in their mind’s eye many times a day, and eventually “burned” into their brain. It forces their mind to stay focused on that goal and puts pressure on them to do what they have to do in order to achieve it. Psycho-Cybernetics takes this concept one step further. Now, after that longwinded introduction, let’s get right to the issue.

You can with some degree of determination actually change your outlook or interpretation of something. Here we are looking at fat loss.

The problems most often dealt with in these situations is where a girl sees herself as ugly, when in reality she is very pretty. Such a girl has to be taught how to imagine herself to be someone pretty, someone thin and slim, someone moving across the floor like a gentle breeze rather than a thumping hippopotamus, someone 10, 20 or 100 lbs. lighter. In order for her subconscious mind to be convinced of that and eventually accept that, at which time the girl will actually be able to see herself as she really is, namely pretty, she needs to bombard her subconscious mind with an image of how she wants to look. That means seeing in her mind’s eye what she wants to look like. To do that, she has to day dream and try to imagine herself as the pretty girl she could be; then hold on to that image as long as possible.

This is a very powerful technique. It is so powerful it can actually be life changing! It can change your outlook on yourself and your life in a matter of days, sometimes as quickly as in one to two weeks. If you are overweight and want to be and look slimmer, you can make that change; but only you can do that. First you have to recognize that you have a problem (overweight). Then you have to muster up courage and determination to make a change. How do you make a change? You have to dream! If you are 100 lbs. overweight, you have to imagine, or actually see in your mind’s eye what you would look like, what you want to look like, feel like, and move like at 100lbs. lighter. You must convince your subconscious mind that that slim person in the mirror of your mind is who you really are, and that is who you want to be. You must dwell on that image 5-10 minutes every night before you go to bed, so when you sleep, that image will stay in your mind undistracted by daily disturbances. You will have pinned the picture of your goal not just on the bathroom mirror, but on a mirror much closer to your mind, in fact, the mirror of your mind!

Do this for at least 7 or more days, perhaps 10-14 days if necessary. At some point you will feel a change in your attitude and approach to the changes you need to make to achieve your goal. You will see that what you need to do is an easy means to an end, the end being your goal of being 100 lbs. lighter (or whatever lbs. you need to shed). That new image of you may eventually, often rather quickly, become a reality. Of course, it does require that you know what you need to do physically (proper nutrition and activity) and above all:
